More on Lucidending

So what are some of your thoughts regarding Lucidending and his reddit post?

I’ve been thinking about it a lot today (yesterday). Actually, its kind of been an all consuming task keeping up with new posts as they’ve been added. I really should have been writing a paper for school rather than spending my time on reddit.

The first thing that strikes me is that I can’t even imagine what he must be going through, what he must be feeling. Although he is seemingly welcoming the relief from his suffering he did mention that he is scared, although he won’t share that fact with his family. I believe him to be a strong individual but this is based on no actual knowledge of the man, just the posts he chose to share with the world.

I’m also pretty amazed with the outpouring of emotion from the reddit community. So many have posted to share pictures of places they live, favorite places to be, etc. in an effort to provide Lucidending with a very memorable virtual world tour. So many others have posted their own personal experiences with losing a loved one or coming close to death themselves.

This is Lucidending’s legacy. He has caused thousands of strangers to share their most personal thoughts and emotions with each other in an effort to honor another individiual (Lucidending) at the end of his life.

More to come as things unfold…..

Please check out this post on I’ve found it to be extremely moving and thought provoking. It would be nice to keep this gentleman in our thoughts for as long as possible. The link is provided below:

I’ll post more thoughts on this later.

Back Online

So, I decided to let my domain name and hosting contract expire because my schedule does not currently allow me to write frequently. I am a little sad because there were a lot of posts written that had significant meaning to me and now they will all be lost. However, I will now work to resurrect this blog for the sake of having somewhere to post my thoughts. Scienceofbehavior is now officially back online. I hope I can succeed in turning this meager site into the vision I had for it so long ago. I guess time will be the the judge of that.

Stay tuned for more…

My wife posted this video on her facebook page.  I think it is amazing and wonderful.  Our soldiers are amazing men and women who put their lives on the line everyday so that we may enjoy our freedom and our way of life.  I can’t say enough about them or about this video but I am certainly going to try and communicate my respect for them through my writing on this blog.  This video makes me think and feel so many things.  So many things that I can’t even put into words yet.  What I do know is that each and every one of them deserves the warm and loving reception they received from their loved ones.

It’s been a long time since I posted on this blog.  I’ve started a number of other projects, been going to school and working full time so unfortunately something had to give.  This site will always have a special place in my heart as it initiated me into the cyber-community.  I’d like to start posting here again or at least have some sort of crossover from my other blogs to this one.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

It’s been a while since I posted on this blog.  I have been working on a site that I have put together from scratch and although there is a long way to go and a lot of work that needs to be done, I must say that it is coming along nicely.  I have missed this blog though and hope to continue posting to it as often as I can.  There is a certain familiarity, comfort and nostalgia that I associate with this site as it is my very first cyber-endeavor.  Please feel free to stop in at my new site Cultural Extremes for a peek. If you like what you see, feel free to become a member of the community, which is both free and easy. Remember that it is a work in progress and will improve infinitely with the continued participation of registered members.

I just bought this domain name and have started to formulate a plan for it. I am planning on creating a bulletin board/forum style site that allows members to write about various cultural topics. Topics will range from standard cultural issues to such niche areas as cyber-culture and gay and lesbian culture. My goal is to create a community where people can interact freely with one another without concerns of stereotypes, labelling, etc. I also hope that this site will become a useful resource for any individual looking for information related to any of the topics posted on the site. Although it may be very time consuming, I will do my best to contribute factual and educational information to all posts and/or threads. Once the site is fully operational, all will be welcome to join and contribute.
